Commencement is one of the most exciting times of the year for the San Diego State family. We celebrate our graduates’ success and anticipate how they will use what they learned here to impact and lead in their communities and the world.
SDSU has grown since its first graduating class of 26 in 1900. This month we honored nearly 10,000 members of the Class of 2012 at eight commencement ceremonies. And we’re not done. The Sports MBA graduation is coming up on June 9, and the Executive MBA graduation is June 16.
Today’s undergraduates earn degrees in 85 different areas. The most popular in 2012 is psychology with more than 500 SDSU graduates.
I wish everyone could have experienced the multiple ceremonies as I did. It didn’t matter whether the campus was in Imperial Valley or in San Diego or whether the graduates were from the College of Arts and Letters or the College of Engineering. The graduates and the 55,000 family members and friends in attendance universally recognized the value of an education at San Diego State.
My heartiest congratulations to the Class of 2012.
